YCB’s Complete The Youth for Community Betterment is an organization composed of DHS students that work on volunteer community projects under the auspices of the Dexter Community Betterment group. Sponsors for 75-76 were John William Ringer and Peggy Hockman. YCB’s involved themselves in many projects this past year. Their first activity was to distribute canisters around town to collect for cystic fibrosis. Other projects consisted of a dance at the VFW Hall, a car wash on October 11, the selling of chocolate turtles to raise money, making a float for the fair parade, and sending two mentally retarded children to the summer Olympics in Columbia. One of their most time consuming projects was the float for the Stoddard County Fair Parade in September. Many hours were spent working on the float and entering it in the Dexter, Sikeston, and Bernie parades. At Dexter, the group won second place. 18
