Students and Faculty Participate in Special Activities DHS art students heard a guest speaker, Judy Perkins, discuss her art work, painted trash barrels with bicentennial designs, and completed macrame and tole painting projects. During May, each senior Art II or III student presented a one-man art show. Being a senior means making countless decisions. The seniors of 1975 chose their class motto, flower, and colors during one of their meetings, (See senior section, page 39). Later in the year, blue announcements were ordered from Herff-Jones representative, Charles Brandon. Beginning in December, students and especially faculty started the first steps in DHS North Central Evaluation. In preparation for the visiting committee in December, 1975, each department held periodic meetings in order to prepare a report on the curriculum. Also involved were several community members. The North Central Association is one of several accrediting associations for high schools in the United States. In preparation for the next school year, class elections for officers and student council representatives were held in May. A new student body president, Joy Smith, was elected on May 8. 24

Many Students Enjoy Roman Holiday9 The Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet was held Saturday, May 3 in the DHS gymnasium. The theme, Roman Holiday, was appropriately expressed with decorations including fountains, columns, a chariot, and a stairway to the Temple of the Gods. Upperclassmen enjoyed the evening meal of ham and its trimmings. Lori Keirsey, Junior class president, presided over the banquet and introduced guest speakers, Jay Lemons, Senior class president. Gene McCane, Dolores Stanislaw, and Lamar Hicks. The dance began at 8:00 with music provided by Hustut-ler. Many stayed well into the midnight hour enjoying the music and good times.
