However, a DHS faculty mem- ber sponsors the club so they meet at the school. The girls work on improving their appearance by learning the correct way to apply make-up and the correct way to walk, stand, and enter a room. Either a professional model or an experi- enced model from the community visits a meeting to show the girls how to mod- el dress and sports clothes. Art Club members had monthly meetings and took an end of the year trip to Six Flags Over lVlid-America. Art Club is sponsored by lVlaria Ruser. ' as iiw-1 . V . . 4 ' K 1 gi D g 1 , '+ . For example, social studies students took field trips to Farm- ington State Hospital, Menard Prison, Mingo Wildlife Refuge, Circuit Court and others. They played simulation games such as Blacks and Whites and Farming. ln addition, social studies stu- dents had the opportunity to view some of the best TV doc- umentaries and specials through the use of the video tape equip- ment in the DHS library.
