Presenting Our Reveille Of 1960 And 1961 Foreword As the years fade away.... Look not into the Past---It comes not back again.... We the Seniors of 1960-1961 are proud of our Annual and the days spent at D. H. S. will never be forgotten by those who spend them so well. This book doesn't end on the last page, we leave, we take with us the joys, the sorrows and the spirit of Dexter, which will never die, because it is founded in more than yells and school color, it is founded in the principles of the love of God and our fellow man. A TABLE OF CONTENTS DEDICATION BOARD OF EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION FACULTY SENIORS JUNIORS SOPHOMORES FRESHMEN ROYALTY ACTIVITIES ATHLETES ADVERTISEMENTS Special Recognition MR. CLARENCE A. POWELL Mr. Clarence A. Powell, prominent Dexter Attorney, was elected to the Board of Education, April 1938. He was elected President of the Board April 1943, and has served as President continuously since that time. The Reveille Staff is giving him this special recognition because he has served on the Board of Education for a longer period of time than any other member in the history of the Dexter Schools. When his present term ex- pires he will have served the community of Dexter for twenty-five years. During these years he has fulfilled every obligation with dignity and vision. Mr. Clarence Powell - -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -we salute you! Dedication 'Dedication We love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of us. We love you for the part of us you bring out. We love you for drawing out into the light all the beautiful radiant things that no one else has looked quite far enough to find. We love you for ignoring possibilities of the fool in us and for laying firm hold on the possibilities of good in us. We love you because you are helping us to make of the lumber of our lives not taverns but temples, and the words of our every- day not a reproach but a song. We love you because you have done more than any creed could have done to make us happy. You have done it without a touch, without a word, without a sigh, you have done it by just being yourself. Perhaps that is what being a wonderful person and friend means after all. Seated: Clarence Myers, Clarence Powell; President, Orlin Stuary; Vice-President. Standing: T. S. Hill; Superintendent, Mrs. Stoll; Secretary, Jean Ringer Dewey Sigler, Loren Coffey. Board of Education We express our appreciation to the members of the Board of Education who toil diligently and perserveringly in their efforts to continue the constant improvement of the Dexter Public Schools. THURSTON S. HILL SUPERINTENDENT A Gentleman, a Scholar, and Influential American! A Gentleman whose courtesy and consideration are innate. A Scholar whose culture and intellect are evidenced even in the briefest discourse. An Influential American who has touched the lives of hundreds of other Americans. It is our sincere belief that his influence has affected the growth and quality of the Dexter School system more than that of any other one person.
