For 10 years Mr. Cooper has been as much a part of D.H.S. as the students and faculty. He can always be found ready and willing to be o.f help, administering the many services that keep D.H.S. rated as one of the top high schools. We the Staff of the 1959-60 Reveille, proudly dedicate our yearbook to a man whose warm smile has brightened the halls of D.H.S., our own MR. CLARENCE COOPER. 3 Mrs. Stoll; Secretary, Loren Coffey; Vice President, Doyle Worley, Clarence Powell; President, Clarence Myers, Orlin Stewart, Dewey Sigler, T. S. Hill; Superintendent. BOARD OF EDUCATION The Dexter Board of Education is a group of citizens who are elected by the people of the district to represent them in matters concerning property maintenance and administration of the district's schools. The men elected to this office must be dependable, and trustworthy. The highest standards of education, as well as many other school functions, lie in the hands of these few men. The Board of Education deals with all problems confronting our school. We are very grateful for the careful consideration the board gives in arriving at each decision. 4 SUPERINTENDENT THURSTON S. HILL Just when does a dream become a reality? Did the Turnpike really begin as the first car wheeled along on it, or did it originate earlier when the first engineer looked at a map? Our new high school will not rise in steel and bricks for many months, but nevertheless it is in progress now as our Superintendent, Mr. Hill envisions our needs and weighs our resources. In more ways than we realize, Mr. Hill is working for the future of Dexter High School. Mr. Hill is a man who lives before us in a silent manner but has set a wonderful example to all who have been under his leadership or in assoc- iation with him in any way ... To one whose qualities of friendliness, loyalty, and sportsmanship, have won a place of high respect, deep admi- ration, and warm affection among both the student body and the faculty. 5 Principal Sherrill Summitt Mr. Summitt, a very capable administrator, has done his best to see that the education he oversees is liberal and broadening. His office door is always open, symbolic of the counsel and friendship which students and teachers alike can find there. He is always there to see that things are going right, whether it be at a dance, game or class project. As friend, sponsor, and Principal, in our opinion he can’t be beat. 6 Dale T eachout Southeast Missouri State College B .S. in Education George Peabody Col- lege M.A. Laddie Mae Smith Arkansas State Col- lege B .S. in Education B.S. in Library and Science Bill Lee Southeast Missouri State College B.S. in Education John Bryant University of Mi ssouri B.S. in Ag.
