Dedication Gratitude and appreciation—these two words most nearly ex- press our feeling for you. We are both grateful and appreciative of your untiring patience, kindness, and constant guidance; vital necessities to us in our freshman year, and on through high school. Later in our D.H.S. life, we learned to look to you as a guide in the selection of courses which would be most beneficial to us. In the years that you have been guidance counselor, scores of students have passed through your office doors and gained a greater assurance of what their plans for the future should be. Now as seniors, we have come to rely even more heavily upon your judgement for college and future plans. For these and the many unknown duties which you so willingly and ably perform, not only for us, but for the entire student body, we the Reveille Staff and Class of '59 respectfully dedicate this volume of the Reveille to you----------- Mr. David L. Looney Mrs. Stoll; Secretary, Loren Coffey, Doyle Worley, Clarence Powell; President, Clarence Myers; Vice President, Orlin Stewart, Dewey Sigler, T. S. Hill; Superintendent. Board of Education The class of 1959 wishes to express its gratitude to our fine Board of Education. Although the members of the Board of Education represent other professions and have many other responsibilities, they still contribute generously and willingly of their time and energy, without compensation, to the successful operation and continued improvement of our school. s Thurston S. Hill SUPERINTENDENT Through the annals of history, men have given their lives for their country in time of war. Some of these men became heroes, and their names may be found In almost any history book. These men help to decide the immediate future of their country; but what of the long-range future? This future is decided by another kind of man—the educator. The educator has a responsiblllty-ladened job, for he must train the minds of youth so that they will someday be capable of accepting their stations in life. The real educators are few, but after attending D.H.S. for 4 years, we are convinced that our superintendent, Mr. Thurston S. Hill, Is among these. We are truly proud to have him as our chief administrator! 7 Sherrill Summit PRINCIPAL Don't grumble, don't fret, Don't dream and don't shirk. Don't think of your worries. But think of your work. The worries will vanish, The work will be done. No man sees his shadow. Who faces the sun. This poem designates only a portion of ideas which our principal, Mr. Sherrill Summit, strives for at D.H.S. Few people realize the Importance of our principal and the unlimited time and patience that he puts into his Job. His greatest wish is for each and everyone to succeed in life and we believe that his advising, truthfulness, and sincerity have helped many to do so. We want to thank you, Mr. Summit, for not only your guidance, but everything you have done to make D.H.S.
