The Reveille 1957-58 Foreword What is a yearbook? Our definition of a yearbook is: a memory book. . . .a reference book. . . .a record book and an album. A memory book? We think that someday, many years from now, you will sit down, thumb through your '58 Reveille, and smile and sigh as a parade of memories marches before your eyes. Reference book? Of course. What was his name? You remember him; he sat behind me in study hall. Grab your '58 Reveille and find the answer in black and white. A record book? Sure! Remember the tournaments we won and lost. Of course, you can't remember the scores because a lot can be forgotten in a few years; but you can find the details in your '58 Reveille. Last of all, the Reveille is an album full of pictures of friends and events you will always want to remember and include among your souvenirs. We, the Reveille Staff of 1958, proudly present to you, your year- book. We hope this Reveille will truly be a.. . .memory book. .. .a ref- erence book... .a record book. .. .and an album for you to enjoy. Table Of Contents DEDICATION BOARD OF EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION FACULTY SENIORS JUNIORS SOPHOMORES FRESHMEN ACTIVITIES SPORTS ADVERTISEMENTS Lurlyn Proffer Dedication This year's Reveille is dedicated to a most deserving member of our faculty. Few have realized the important role she plays in helping to makg DHS the school that it is. She has spent many hours advising and assisting the students who have come to her with their many problems, both large and small. To many citizens of Dexter, high school and Mrs. Proffer are syn- onomous, and to the many who have profited by her guidance, she will re- main an object of their respect and affection. So it is that we proudly and respectfully dedicate this 1958 Reveille to MRS. PROFFER, who by her constant devotion to duty, her high ideals and standards, her sincere kindness and charm, personifies the best of that great profession... .The Classroom Teacher. Board Superintendent Thurston S. Hill Our superintendent, Mr. Thurston S. Hill, is a leader who looks ahead through the vista of the future and catches a gleam of the mission of the American school system in edu- cating students for their responsibilities as citizens of tomor- row. His influence is far reaching, and his contributions to the school and the community are inestimable. We wish to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to a wonderful superintendent. 5 Principal Sherrill Summit An all-round, good fellow is an expression that is ap- plicable to our principal, Mr. Sherrill Summitt. In addition to being an efficient administrator, he is a friend to all the students. Some may be inclined to take his work for granted, but a little serious reflection should bring to our minds the importance of his service to the school. We want to thank him for his fairness, his sincerity, and his friendly spirit. 6 Faculty ENEAS ASH BROOK Science Western Kentucky State College, B.S.
