During the first week our enrollment reached 124; at present it is 118. The total number enrolled this year in 128. We held our first party in the old gymnasium. Everyone enjoyed the games of the earlier part of the evening, and the dancing which climaxed the occasion. Simple refreshments of cookies and soda pop were served to a hungry group. Our class sponsors are Mrs. Proffer and Mr. Mc- Leroy. The Dexter High School Band appeared in the Bloomfield Homecoming, Dexter Fall Festival, S.E. Mo. 'bgh School Marching Band Festival at Jackson and the Cape Girardeau Christmas Parade this year. At Jackson we were honored as one of the six charter members of the Association which now has 3 3 member bands. Outstanding shows include our “Dixie Routine” at Jackson, “New York Holiday” at Portageville football game and our guest conductor, Mr. Frank Kinder of Collinsville, Illinois. We have 53 members this year which is our largest and we think the best band Dexter has ever had. Activities for the year include two socials, the banquet in the spring, representation at the State D.O. Club at Jef- ferson City, and selling popcorn at the ball games. Those attending the trip to Jefferson City were Barbara Sneed, Bob Robins, Veda Wamble and Mr. Porter. A club meeting was held October 27 for the report of the trip to Jefferson City. These reports were given by Veda Wamble and Bob Robins. The final social of the year was the D.O. Banquet held April 1, 1954. - Row 1: Emma Leen Bolin, Sherlene Chrisman, Barbara Allstun, Marion Sitton, Marilyn Dodd, Veda Wamble, Mr. Porter.
