I CLASS HISTORY The class of 1954 took official form when the first class meeting was held and Allan Elsasser was elected president, Bob Long, vice- presidentg Darlene Lewis, secretary, and Eugene Thornton, treasurer. After a processing period of a few weeks the class began to feel that it was truly a part of D. H. S. We took our places among the students and were able to make many new friends. The sophomore year was, as it is for most classes, a rather quiet one. The class sponsored its share of dances and held numerous class parties. Bob Long presided over class meetings as president with Jerry Forshee as vice-president. Pat Long kept the records straight while holding the job of secretary and Donna Gage kept the columns balanced in the treasurer's book. Entering their junior year in D. H. S. the class suddenly realiz- ed that the four years were going by swiftly and that a definite effort to build up its treasury for that not-to-distant senior trip should begin immediately. To guide their group they elected Bob Long, president, Eugene Thornton, vice-presidentg Donna DeVoe, secretary, and Donna Gage, treasurer. The class sponsored dances and had concessions at games. The Penny Carnival, which brought in a very high profit did much to light- en the load. The junior prom with its theme UMelodies in Bluen, the junior play, Hlnner Willyn, our long awaited class rings, and the Plastics dinner rounded out a busy year for the juniors. UI can't believe it! At last!H That's how many of the class of '54 felt when they began their senior year. This year the position of president was filled for the third time by Bob Long. Allan Elsasser was vice-president, Pat Long secretary and Donna Gage, also for the third time, treasurer. The seniors started the ball rolling by selling magazines, having concessions at football and basketball games and sponsoring numerous bake sales and scrap drives. We were all very proud when Pat Long, a senior, was elected Homecoming Queen by the football squad. A three act comedy, uYou Can't Kiss Carolineu gave the seniors a chance to display their dramatic talent again. They were successful and gave their treasury a large boost with the profit made. With the 83,000 balance in the treasury, the class embarked on a five day trip to New York City. It was found to be everything they had expected if not more so and a wonderful time was had by all. Time went quickly and before they knew it the seniors Ceach with a slightly shaking handy were accepting their diplomas, taking one last look around and saying good-bye to D. H. S.
