Glass J-llsfory As we open the htstory book of The Class of 56 we remember the year of 1944 the begrnnrng of our years rn school Chapter one starts wrth grade school and the frrst grade Our teachers were Mrs Clodfelter and Mrs Baltz They d1d therr best rn teachrng us the A B C s then gave up and turned us over to our second grade teachers Mrss Allen and Mrs Means Our thrrd grade teachers were Mrs Newton and Mrss Capart who were glad to see that year end and qurckly sent us on to the fourth grade and Mrs Sutlrff and Mrs Hadley Mrs Brrd and Mrss Lowe recerved us rn the frfth grade Frnally we made the srxth grade Mrs Case and Mrs Wrlson put us through the most rmportant year rn grade school W were on our wayl Chapter two Junror Hrgh Oh what a crazy mrxed up place The seventh grade was so new and our sponsors Mrs Case and Mr Hankrns had to steer us along We elected Arnold LeUnes as our presrdent Marrlyn Ruthrauff was selected for carnrval Queen and she prcked lrttle ole Frank Rrngo as her escort Russel Wrlson presrded over us rn the erghth grade wrth Mr Brown and Mrs Myers as our sponsors We chose a new-ggfor our carnrval queen Emre Balentrne Her escort was Amold LeUnes Then came our b1g year we were Freshmen at last we frnally had a name Raymond Gray was our presrdent Mr Scott and Mrss Krnne were our sponsors Carol Sue Frelder was selected as our Jr Hrgh football Queen the co captarns were Arnold LeUnes and Johnny Gutrerrez Jams Golden was carnrval queen and Raymond Gray was her escort Our basketball queen was Ol1v1a Velthom Bob Thomlson was captarn Freshman day oh what a day one we ll never forget Osage park and sunburns Then came our graduatron rnto hrgh school on May 23 1953 Chapter three our last years of school Hrgh School Our Sophomore year started off wrth a bang by electlng Arnold LeUnes as presrdent We had Mrss McCullough and Mr Brown as sponsors Carolyn Nelson was elected Sophomore football attendant Her escort was Glenn Wrrght Our carnrval queen was Dorothy Unruh her escort was Robert Bayne Lynna Montgomery and Joyce Callaway were our basketball attendants Therr escorts were Arnold LeUnes and Lloyd Whrstler Our Junror Year was a year we ll never forget Lloyd Dunn was our presrdent Mrs Cearley and Mr Maxfreld were our sponsors We selected Shrrley Adams as our football class attendant her escort was Lloyd Dunn For basketball attendant we chose Tookey Scott her escort was Davrd Mrller Our carnrval queen was Carolyn Nelson who also rergned over the whole carnrval her escort was Floyd Brown We had a np roarrn wrld and wooley westem for our Junror Play the name was Double Barrelled Detectrve Story The theme for our Junror Senror Banquet was the Starlrte Club We ve succeeded at last AH SENIORSI Lloyd Dunn was agarn our presrdent Our sponsors Mrss Coleman and Mr Hankrns showed us through thrs drffrcult year The football boys chose Jams Golden as Football Queen and Raymond Gray was the very deservrng captarn Tookey Scott was selected by the basketball boys as therr Sweetheart Davrd Mrller was chosen Captarn Her attendant was Carolyn Nelson escorted by Floyd Brown The Semor Class attendants were Slurley Adams and Judy Inda Therr escorts were Frank Rrngo and Robert Bayne Mary Alrce McWhoter was chosen band queen and crowned by band captarn Jrm Dry Our Senror play Strictly Formal was very successful and a lot of fun Farewell assembly was held on May 11 Baccalaureate on May 13 Class Nrght May 15 and on May the 17 1956 at 8 p m Commencement was held rn the Dewey Freldhouse Thrs closes the last and frnal chapter rn the book of the CLASS OF 56 0 . , . .
