CLASS HISTORY Twelve long years ago on a very memorable occasion Septemberl943 we started on a lourney through school Our first grade teachers were Mrs Long and Mrs Clodfelter who tried their best and l do feel sorry for them to make us ideal first graders The second grade was taught by Miss Allen and Miss McCaslin who gladly turned us over to Miss Capart and Mrs Newton for our third year in grade school Mrs Stockstill and Mrs Sutliff came to their rescue and tried their hand in teaching the fourth grade ln the fifth grade we had as our teachers Mrs Bird and Mrs Sharpton ln the sixth and final year of grade school Mrs Case and Mrs Smith tried to get us ready for the most fun filled years of our lives lunlor '9 When school finally came again we were big shots We had as our president for that year David Murguia Later on that year at the school carmval we had the little red head Shirley McClure to represent us seventh graders She was escorted year were Mrs Myers and Mr Farrow Sylvester Luther Dobbs, Bud was chosen to lead us through the eighth grade class as pres: dent Mrs Tyner and Mr Bunch were our spon sors That year for our Carnival queen we had Elaine Cooper escorted oy Tommy Kmsch Our freshman year started out with Mark Hoover as our president Our class sponsors were Miss Klnne and Mr Jarrow We were then big enough to do things ourselves so we had a Junior High Home Coming The football boys elected Nelda Gavallas to be queen and she was escorted by captain David Murgulo Her attendants were Shirley McClure escorted by Jack Jones and Donna Ayres escorted by George Frenchman Our basketball queen was Frances Stephens and es corted by captain George Frenchman At the big school carnival we had Carolyn Hatton as our queen and she was escorted by Robert McLeod At the end of the year we all enjoyed a wonderful day at Grand Lake This was our Freshman Day and ldon t think it will ever be forgotten by those who attended We all came back tired and sun burned We all received diplomas at our Freshman graduation and that was supposed to mean we were ready to enter high school Our sophomore sponsors were Miss Marler and Mr Taylor and Sylvester Dobbs was our class president At foorball homecoming Shnrley Mc Clure was class queen and she was escorted by Jack Jones Basketball class queen was Elaine Cooper and was escorted by George Frenchman ln the Junior or next to the last year of school Mrs CearleyandMr Hill were our class sponsors Class president was Bill Skye and he led us through a very successful year Norma Jo Rollins was Carnival class queen and Gillis Eades was her escort Our football attendant was Carolyn Hatton escorted by Bill Skye The basketball attendants were Donna Ayres and Shirley McClure whose escorts were Joe Brown and George French man Well we finally reached the last year Seniors at last With Duane Johnson as our presndent we started out to make the best of the final year and we did all raght We presented the Senior Class play Taming the Brat which was a big success ltwasdlrected by our class sponsors,Mr Hankins by the football boys to serve as queen during our football homecoming and she was escorted by captain Bull Skye Her senior attendant was Olivia Veltheon escorted by George Frenchman and class attendant was Carolyn Hatton escorted by Jack Jones Carolyn Hatton was also selected as band queen and was crowned by Mark Hoover At basketball homecoming Anne Williams was elected as queen and she was escorted by captain George Frenchman Among our other activities as Seniors we chose to have Senior Week instead of a Senior Trip On October 3 we went to the Tulsa State Fair ln April we went to Oklahoma City to visit Oklahoma City University on their College Day for high school seniors We all enloyed the trips very much Our Farewell Assembly was held May 20 Baccalaureate was held May 22 our Class Picnic May 23 and Class Night May 24 On May 26 at 8 P M Commencement was held in the Dewey Fieldhouse We, the members of the Semor Class History Committee, do unanimously declare this to be the true and unbiased record of the i955 Senior Class I .
