CLASS HI TORY September 4, l94l. That date will always be a memorable one to those who survived. To the unin- formed, this date was the beginning of one of the most drastic invasions ever inflicted upon the faculty of the Dewey Public School System. That was the day that most of us were persuaded, by one means or another, to enter this red brick structure and embark on an educational program that proved bumpy for the students and often disastrous for the supervisors. With the aid of Miss Huff and Miss Quick fMrs. Delongi the first weak week of our scholastic campaign was one of adjustment. Our second year of schooling rolled around with Miss Ida Allen and Mrs. McCasIin appointed as our directors. Our third grade 'lamin' was applied by Miss Baltz and Mrs. Williams. For the fourth grade Miss Vance and Mrs. Sfocksrill received the teaching privileges and the fifth year placed us at the disposal of Mrs. Bird and Mrs. Graham. At last we arrived in the sixth grade and did we ever feel like the cat's meow. We were strictly 'lt' because that was our last year of kid stuff. Then the rumor rambled that seventh graders were being demoted to the sixth grade. That one gave us quite a start, but since it was iust a rumor we settled down and enioyed the remainder ofthe year under the supervision of Mrs. Bird, Mrs. Williams, and Miss Betty Elledge. Ohl Jr. High at last! With Bill Juby as our seventh grade president we began to feel the power of politics. Upon further investigation we discovered we were not quite as big and important as we thought. The homecoming activities honored Marilyn Brown as class queen and Lewis Fouts as her escort. Beth Carpenter and Cecil Magana were basketball attendant and escort. We chose Bob Corzine as our eighth grade president and Miss Coleman was selected as class sponsor. Lasetta Wright was class football attendant and Cecil Magana was her escort. What with initiation and all, our freshman year was quite a thrill. We were the last class to be thusly introduced to Senior High. Wayne Hoover was class president while Mr. Downing and Mr. Sullivan were our sponsors. Ardith Gunter was freshman class queen and Cecil Magana her escort. Basketball class queen was Donna .lo Perry and Ronald Ryan was her escort. Our sophomore class president was Donald Paul Hinman. Betty Hendricks was football class queen and Bill Juby was her escort. Lasetta Wright was basketball class queen and Cecil Magana was her escort. Banquet, play, and other things coming up. we were really going to be busy. Kenneth Wilhelm was iunior class president. Peggy Crouse was iunior football class queen and Kenneth Wilhelm was her escort. Joann McCormack was basketball class queen and Cecil Magana was her escort. Mr. Hankins and Miss Kaiser were our sponsors. At last the great year arrived. We were finally seniors. This year proved to be one ofthe busiest of all. We had as our president, Bob Corzine, and Aristotle Kountoupis as our vice-president. Jeanne Nash was secretary-treasurer and Ardith Gunter was reporter. Beth Carpenter had the honor of being elected football queen, Her attendant was Joann McCormack and class queen was Phyllis Spalding. Basketball queen was Ardith Gunter. Attendant to Ardith was Carolyn Johnson and class queen was Peggy Crouse. We chose as our class play 'Just Ducky' which tumed out to be a big success. For our senior trip we traveled to Lake Texoma. We recovered from shock and sunbum to come back to the task of learning how to march. Baccalaureate was held on May 'l7, and class night, May 19. On MUY Tl. uf 8200 P-W' in the D.H.S. gym, Commencement was held. That brings to a close the Senior Class of 1953.
