Carl Rope, Elmer Sprague, John Hooker, Dean Virgil Pugh Although the Bulldogper, basketball team did not quite equal the record of the gridsters, the Dewey cazers completed Clauk, Donald Parrett, Donald Halo, a successful season,'takinp ten out of fifteen scheduled games. Dewey took first place in the Barnsdall Invitational tournament and second place in the Cleveland Invitational tournament. Dewey was entered in the Class A division at Cleveland and was beaten by Drumright in the finals. Dewey went to the finals in the Regional tournament held at Pawhuska. They were defeated by the Hominy Bucks who were later crowned Class B champions of the state. The Bulldoggers suffered the loss of Carl Ropp, Francis Jackson and Glenn McCartlin who were called to serve Uncle Sam about the middle of the basketball season. The prospect for next years team are good and we are looklnz forward to a good basketball team. The Junior High under the coaching of Mr. Martin had a very successful season.- winning lO games out of l3f Andy Davis, Bob Claibourne, Orville Langford, Orval Webbe Frank,Magana, Finis Shull, Lflvin Lemmons, James Toalson, Bill Bird, and a host of others making up of the squad.
