I 7 ,A Cgdoofbczlf W Under the training of a new Coach, Bud H oon, the Dewey Bulldoggers High School with a good record Two wins, four losses, and one tie, was the count after the mud cleared away They proved to be one of the hardest hitting teams of the year, but lacked the scoring power In the first game they played Sedan on a very muddy field, this was a handicap to both teams so neither team was able to score lhe Grove game was also played on a muddy field but Grove was ableto break away for a touchdown and win the gale Bartlesville overpowered our team in the third game of the season Yale was played on a muddy field also This was one of the best games of the season Both teams scored in the third quarters but Dewey made their extra point Honiny was our Home Coming game This was probably the favorite game of the season The score at the hal! was 6 to 7 with Dewey on Hol- 1ny's three yard line The Pawhuska game was somewhat like the Honiny game with the score 6 to 7 at the half Pawhuska overpowered ns ln the last half winning the game Phe Cleveland game was played for Coach Byson Dewey started the game by scoring in the first three minutes and from then on it was our game Our season was a little on the losing side but the boys really en joyed it The Bulldoggers will lose five Senior boys, Wallace Kite, end, Pm Horton, seen.. 1 ship the debt eternal of each gen eration to the new life which must take its place As surely as children grow, the schools must go on Education cannot wait The neglect of growing youth caannot be repaired The war intensified the need for good teachers Victories in war and peace are won not by machines, but by men men of purpose skill, initiative, and courage Men mine the ore, make the steel, fashion the weapons, fly the planes, negotite the treaties, keep or break the peace build the future Wlat will it profit a nation if it gain the whole world and neglect its own youth? lsery effort is being put forth by the Board of Education to main tain the highest possible standards for the Dewey School and we wish to express appreciation to the seniors and Juniors for their part in the effort, especially in the renewal of the publication of a school paper BULLDOGGERS VS ZEBRAS lhe Dewey Bulldoggers played the Claremore Zebras hard fought game at the Community Building an on January 21 The Zebras took the lead at the first and soon ran up a substanc1al lead At the half the Zebras led but the Bulldoggers came back fighting They began to send the ball through the bas- ket, and in the fourth quarter they were hitting the basket regularly although the score ended Claremore 44, Dewey 28 the Junior High Teal played the Baptist Church Team just previous to the Dewey Claremore game In the first half they played an evenly matched game with the score Junior High 8 and Baptists 7 at the end After the half the Junior High in creased its lead to win 24 to 19 Thus the Junior High retired from the court as victor over the Baptist team, highly elated over a gallantly fought game The Junior Band furnished several rousing marches and the Lariats led the cheering The 'Dewey High Times' will be pub Harold Cray Clifford Polk Betty Chinn DeWayne Roberts Claire Hines Ann DeShazo Margaret Cartwright Perry Kountoupis Phyllis H111 Noreen Thompson Charles Nader Betty Campbell Artist Sponsorr HUD 'After You re Gone No Love, lo Nuthin' 'Army Air Corps uLES Edltor Assistant Editor Socigty Edi tO!'
