Shop students have the choice of wood or metal. Ve have thirty-six boys taking a general wood course learning to use hand tools, shape, measure, finish and fit wood into small articles. Fourteen boys and girls make up a class in practical carpentry. Here mechanical drawing blueprint reading, related math, as well as fram- lng, flooring, roofing, and laying foundations and erecting walls are taught. Cabinet making also plays a part in this. The metal shop prepares the boy or girl to shape metal by forge, hand tools and the lathe, welding, blueprint reading, drill press and related mathematics. Safety in the shop is stressed in this course because of knowledge of machinery is learned to a large part by knowledge of safety practices. We have two classes in this course. Each has eighteen boys. There has been a greater demand for these graduates than we can swpply so far.
