An For Excellence In would like to take this opportunity to extend my congratulations and my thanks to you all on earning the Battle E The Battle E was awarded for the period of October 1983 through March 1985. I am very proud to have been a part of this ship's company for even a small part of that t1me. The Battle E says a lot about this ship and her crew. It says that we are ready and able, at all times, to perform our mission. For DEWEY to have earned this award as a member of DESRON FOUR makes this award even more special. DESRON FOUR looks at the overall effectiveness of a DEWEY scored 94.6 overall on her selected exercises, won all departmental awards in the competition within DESRON FOUR and performed exceptionally well on all her inspections As all of us know, DEWEY was able to deploy on a seven month Mediterranean cruise with only 22 days notice. This deployment only emphasises DEWEY's ability to perform You should be proud to be a member of this ship's company DEWEY is a fine ship, and you are the people who make her so. Without your efforts this ship would never leave the pier Officially, the Battle E is awarded to a ship To win the Battle E, a ship must perform well on all the required exercises and major inspections.
