This group was plenty green and also plenty scared, but very deter- mined to be big Seniors somedayg even though that day did seem a long way off and the goal almost unobtainable. The year started off with elections of of- ficers with Billy Spencer being elected as presidents Shirley Courson, secre- tary-treasurerg and Nellie Toffier, reporter. Mrs. Mary Lester was chosen to be sponsor. At the end of the school year, the class day was spent in Okmul- gee by enjoying a Picnic and by going skating. The next year everyone began to sit up and take notice of this group of boys and girls who had enrolled as Sophomores It was seen that here was no ordinary group of 'would-be' seniors This group had begun to show real prom ise and ability And besides they were a lively group always ready for fun Individuals elected as the class officers for this school year were Harold Redford president Shirley Courson secretary treasurer and Nellie foffier reporter The class chose Mrs Helen Stilwell to be class sponsor The fall of '48 found the happy group together again eager to start an other year of adventure and to resume activities with the thought in mind that there was only one more year to wait until this group would be seniors lhis year's activities began with the election of officers Jim Watson president Billy Spencer, vice president Shirley Courson secretary treasurer, and Nellie Toffier, reporter Mrs Stilwell and Hr Jack Clifford were the sponsors The play Moonlight and Applesauce, was presented December I and the seniors were honored with a Southern Stylen banquet May 12 Every one was plenty ex cited the girls in beautiful formals and high heels and the boys dressed in their Sunday go to meetin' suits The school year was climaxed with lr Clifford taking the Junior Class to Sulphur Springs Turner Falls and Tishi mingo, where everyone had a wonderful time In our final year, the class numbered 19 at the beginning oi the school year, but only 17 members stayed long enough to go through the final steps to become alumni of Dewar High School The same individuals who served as class officers the previous year were elected to dlrect us through the most impor tant year of our school history Miss LaVera Averett was our sponsor and we C Ose as the class play The Vild Oats Boy So we come to the end of our long looked forward to' year not regret ting a moment of the hours spent at Dear Ule Dewar high So we bid a f0nd farewell to the old home lot and hope the following students in the years to come enjoy their time at Dewar High School as well as we have 1950 4444 4444 I 1 O , - , , ..- . . , . - z ' . , - D . , 9 n 1 1 9 U .
