The joys and sorrows of high school stretch- ed before 29 eager Freshmen. The boys had the majority of class votes, so that at the election Joe Henry was elected presidentg Bobby Smith, vice president, and Everett Wil- hite, secretary. lot a girl in office! Irs. Lomax was elected sponsor by a large majority. The usual run of affairs marked the greenhorn year. At the end of the year Class Day was spent at Okmulgee picnicking, rol1er-skat- ing, and most of all being together for one day of fun. The Sophomore year started in a similar manner by the election of Joe Henry as president with lr. J. E. Roane elected as sponsor. Our class of 27 Freshmen had risen to the enormous number of 34 Sophomores. The basketball teams gained that year and trophies were won by the help of the outstanding players of the Sophomore Class. Everybody enjoyed drudgery an well as fun that year. Algebra took the cake for drudgery. Class Day was spent that year in Tulsa and the town was really painted red when the Sophomores of'45 departed that lay night. Juniors were feeling mighty spry that September morn when the bell toll ed for the enrollment After all another year and the world would be ar the feet of the Junior Class members Joe was at the wheel aga1n That year was spent in toil to raise the money for the Junior Senior banquet Every body admitted it was worth it when the day came for the girls to wear their first formals and wcbbly high heels The boys also felt pretty gay in their new suits The Irish banquet was a great success, thanke to the help of the lothers Everyone enjoyed the Class Day spent in Oklahoma city and Tulsa The fun everyone had planned on in Oklahoma City was not available, there fore, our wonderful sponsor, Hrs Stllwell, let us go to Tulsa Everyone got home late and tired but not a single moment was regretted Seniors Dignified Seniors walked in the door in the fall of '48, for their last enrollment Some of them felt happy, yet others foresaw the day, not far ahead when they would walk out of the doors of DHS, never to return to the joys and sorrows of high school days Joe returned to the seat of president, but this time there was no election there was no oppositlon s0 Joe was proclaimed president by acclamation Jane 0'Lee Potts was elected as vice president and Edward Spencer was elected as Secretary Treasurer Home base was just a few feet ahead The future loomed ahead The import ant things that were ahead began to form in the minds of the Seniors and they began to feel that they would not be so glad to leave this school But as the time grew nearer, they began to see blue skies in the fleld of l1fe And as eager as they had begun this run from home base four years ago they reached home base, ready to take up the bat again and try their new learned ability This time, with a tinge of regret at leav1ng the school where so much had happened, so many memorable things will live in the minds of the Seniors of 1949 forever a' Q I e e - . - O 0 .
