I President and Director To the Texas Graduating Class of 1967: Four centuries ago, an English writer named John Heywood observed that, A hard beginning maketh a good ending. What he neglected to say, of course, was that the final result of any endeavor depends upon the personal effort put into it. You are graduating, not because you have mastered a certain number of academic subjects or satisfied a pre-determined set of requirements, but rather be- cause, in a very real sense, you are on your way to a good ending. Your task now is to solidify the gains you have made during your stay with Devereux Schools, and to meet each new day's challenges in such a way that, many years from now, you will be able to look upon your life with self-respect.
