THE STAFF Editor----------- Assistant Editor - Business Manager Assistant Manager Photographer - - - Class Editors: Junior------ Sophomore - Freshman - - Sponsor--------- BURL HOLLINGSWORTH - - THOMAS LITTRELL DOYLE MILLER - -DOUGLAS FAUCETT JO ANN GARRISON MOONYENE CAMPBELL ........JANE LITTLE .......GEORGE RATER - - -LILLIAN M. FISHER DEDICATION As a gesture of our deep appreciation for his under- standing and toleration of our failures and misbehav- iors, for his cheerful smile, for his pleasant person- ality in carrying out his tasks in teaching and in coaching, for his willingness to serve all students, teachers and school officials, we, the Staff, respect- fully dedicate THE EAGLE of 1954 to MASON PERRY DENTON SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE My Young Friends: These thoughts are directed to you in 1974. You will under- stand them better at that time. Life is m a d e up of the PAST, the PRESENT, and the FU- TURE. The PAST contains our knowledge. We learn valuable les- sons from hard experience and from the record of the experiences of others. From these lessons we are able to make progress to- ward the realization of man’s age-old dream. This dream has been for the liberation of mankind from superstition, prejudice and conceit. Let us not disregard the knowledge of the PAST. The PRESENT contains our opportunity. It comes only once. It must be used while here. This involves making up one's mind. The privilege of making a decision is truly a gift of God. It is better to make a wrong decision than never to make a decision. Pity the one who seems never able to make up his mind. The FUTURE contains our hope. We can always expect bet- ter for the future than we have in the present or have had in the past. Such an attitude produces cheer, radiates sunshine and dissipates gloom. Hope is the Beacon Light which pierces the fog of despair and encourages one to hold on. Let us never re- linquish our Hope. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE I wish to express my appreciation for the teamwork and the good spirit shown by the Seniors and the Yearbook Staff in compiling this edition of THE EAGLE. Cooperation is necessary for a sat- isfactory completion of any project. I hope that all students, upon graduating from this school, will have fully learned the value of cooperation, as the future of America depends upon your ability to work together. The successful completion of THE EAGLE of '5U proves that cooperation is necessary for sue- ADMINISTRATION i I BOARD OF EDUCATION Left to right, seated: Clifford Richie, Trent Edwards, John Chumley.
