On a brilliantly warm day in Sep- tember, sixty Seniors entered the halls of Deshler High School for their last year of education. All entered classes with a bounding ambition. This is my last year, and I’m going to make the most of it! was the idea possessed by the Seniors. However, this idea was abandoned, in most cases, soon after the first six weeks. During all of the high school years, we had worked extremely hard to earn money. As a class, we worked at car washes, bake- sales, magazine sales, and record hops. By the spring of 1968, we had earned enough money to treat the Seniors to a splendid prom en- titled “Love Is Blue.” We assured ourselves that it was the best prom ever. As we finally reached our Senior year, we soon realized that our stay at DHS was soon to be ended. At the beginning of the year, we sold magazine subscriptions and Christmas cards to raise money for our well-earned class trip. On the 25th of May, our nervous Seniors took part in their gradua- tion exercises which was to be their final appearance in DHS. It was hard to believe but every- thing ended with graduation, and we would no longer return to the beloved halls of DHS. As we leave the security of DHS, each individual will enter into a new phase of his life. As we leave, the only appropriate state- ment seems to be: “Thanks DHS; it's been wonderful! 23
