Washington Here We Come After a long, tiring train ride, these Deshler beau- ties hit the hay. Babe strikes again, but Becky seems to have the situ- ation well in hand. Judy gets the beauty treatment from Sharon. It looks like Terry and Nasty are having pleasant dreams.. .Hey, weren’t the boys and girls supposed to separate?! ? hotel COHTIN E Some seniors await the touring bus. In the back- ground is the Continental Hotel where they stayed while in Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Krauss, chaperones on the trip, descend the White House steps. 26

Graduation Preceding graduation, a feeling of tension filled the air. Hands shaky with anticipation, the girls helped nervous boys pin on their car- nations. Little fingers were locked, the pro- cession began, and 49 seniors, on 98 shaky legs, marched into a gym crowded with hundreds of relatives and friends. As they proceeded down the aisle a dif- ference could be noted in the dress of five of the seniors. The afore mentioned students had gold tassels and each had a gold cord around his neck. Upon looking at one's program, it could be found that these five were honor students. Ranking in the top 1 OPfo of their class, these students were noted for their outstanding scho- lastic ability. They were as follows: Robert Meyer, Sharon Ball, Gary Miller, Judy Marchal, and Becky Betts. The Invocation was given, and everyone was seated. Robert Meyer who was chosen from among the honor students to make the speech made his way to the stage. In his speech he thanked the administration, the teachers, and the school employees on behalf of the entire senior class. The Honorable Jackson E. Betts then gave the Commencement Speech. In it, the seniors were urged to make the most of the life which lay ahead of them. One by one, names were called and sen- iors were handed their long-waited-for diplo- mas. There were innumerable flashes of light as proud parents photographed their children on the threshold of life. Tears glistened in the eyes of some as they made perhaps their final exit from the little school they came to love. 27
