individual pictures. Surprisingly, his cam- era survived the ordeal! ! On November 5, we plunged into the basketball season by meeting Hoytville. Of course, the Seniors sold popcorn and candy at the home games. What? No school again? Yep—Armistice Day. This is getting to be a habit, no school on the 15th either. We all went to the fields to decrease the pheasant popula- tion. Thanksgiving Day brought us poor students two more free days. All through December the Music Department prepared for the beautiful Christmas Concert which they gave on December 22. The following day at 2 o'clock, the doors were flung open and out rushed the student body looking forward to a nice long vacation. December 28 brought the start of the Christmas Tournament and victory for our team. Back to school on the 3rd of January. Two days later, group pictures were taken for the Annual. 4

cljsLcuibu On September 6, 1954, classes began at dear old Deshler High. The Seniors plunged right into their work this first month pre- paring for their Washington trip. On the 24th, the Seniors went to neighboring towns to solicit ads for the DE-HI. Lots of fun, no school! The whole student body was enter- tained on September 28 by the Galvanos , master of Hawaiian music. During another assembly program, Mr. Donnell exhibited the prizes won by the F.F.A. boys for poultry judging at the F.F.A. National Convention. Congratulations, boys! No school again for the Seniors—class pictures were taken Oc- tober 21 at Fostoria. On October 26, we witnessed the dramatic arts of the Juniors in their play Sing for Your Supper. The coming Halloween brought a festive air to Deshler; Vernie Tussing and Karen Lee reigned as king and queen of the celebra- tion. About this time, the Seniors began their Christmas car drive and the Juniors started selling door decorations. November 2, Bill Wonders came from Fostoria to take

The week of the 12th brought sem- ester exams and soon after. Annual orders were token by the staff. In the evening, January 26, the Juniors went to Malinta for Career Night exercises and two days later the top 40% of the Senior Class went to Malinta for the scholarship tests. The Junior High Tournament started February 5; our boys took the trophy. Then on Febru- ary 15, the County Tournament began and our team took that trophy and entered the District battle on March 3. Our hats are off to Mr. Eicher and the team! Deshler's tal- ented musicians had a chance to perform March 5, when the District Contest for solos and ensembles was held at Bowling Green. Out of seventeen entries, D.H.S. came back with seven first . More music—on March 15, the band went to Liberty Center for the All-County Music Program and on the 19th they went to Bryan for the band and chorus Contest. Tests, tests, tests! Three whole days of them, from March 23 to 25 the Every Pupil Tests were given. March 25, the 5
