A team of school administrators from other school districts across the country evaluated our school. The evaluation of our school was excellent so it was recommended that DSMS be given an award. Our principal, Mr. William Cooper, went to Washington, D.C. to receive the award and hear President Reagan's address. You're here because your school is a part of what's right with American education. Excellence is on the rise in our schools and drugs are on their way out. Schools like yours are showing the country how to achieve excellence by setting high standards, maintaining discipline, and emphasizing the basics. Secretary of Education, Williamj. Bennett, told the recipients, All of our students deserve schools as good as yours - all of the schools honored today have exemplary methods of teaching about our republican form of government as framed by the constitution.
