Carter. Lafferty Win Football Honors Row One: Curt Messerly, Chester Cavil, Larry Knisley, Mike Miller. Row Two: Darrell Roland Don Wright, Phil Gilbert, Herman Greenlee. Les Bunny Carter and Jerry Lafferty were elected team co-eaptains. Carter (left) was voted the most valuable player by the squad and was on the second team all-city. Lafferty (right) was voted the most improved player by the squad and was first team all-city and third team all-state. Sophomore Fool hall I nds 5-2; Shous Promise tor ' 65! Row One: Orville Singleton, Larry Jackson, Tom Carnes, Jim Hedlund, Greg Wilson, Jake Southward, Chuck Flanigan. Row Two: Irvine Cheatum, Larry Hawk, Willie Herndon, Vem Jeter. Row One: Claude Bumpus, Barry Sopher, Dan Gerstanprb-r er, Ed Mayfield, Wayne Adamson, Bob Loffon, Steve Mooers. Row Two: LeRoy Cavil, Mark Perry, Galen Thompson, Warren Stewart. Under the strict supervision of sophomore coach Sam Hoffman and assistant Bob Watson, the sophomore squad placed a solid second in rough city series competition, losing only to North. They ended with an impressive 3-1 record in the city. Next year, the team should be ranked among the best. They ended their season with a 5-2 record. 20
