0 Ill0lll'Il0d . . . the departure of a man dear to us as a leader . . and a girl dear to us as a friend. Picture shows former President Kennedy and President Johnson driving by Tech in the 1960 Campaign. In Peace by Ruth Ann Staple The lone soldier stands silhouetted against the setting sun. All alone on the hill, as the plaintive notes of Taps re-echo throughout the dusk, To pull on the heartstrings of the people below. The grave is filled in now and the Ere will burn forever. In a lasting tribute to one who gave his life That we might live in peace. And so we go on living as we did before. Stopping sometimes to listen for the voioe that will never sound again. For a step that is stilled forever. Yet, even though he is dead, he lives on in the hearts of all. He is gone, and we must live on try- ing to reconstruct what broke apart that black November day. His widow, outwardly calm and serene, inwardly cries for the man she loved and needed, but he is not more. Someday we will understand and on that day we will weep no more, but will learn to live as he wanted. In peace. n 1
