we're prophets of the utterly absurd! faye and dee The asylum isn't such a bad place! 'Course we didn't plan to be here in 1961. We just thought we'd explore the place at our slumber party after the Spring Drama Festival of 1951. Little did we know they'd invite us to stay! The class of '51 has its ten year reunion tonight, and we are all invited, but since we can't be there, we will try to imagine the success stories of everyone who is attending. As Pat Ridgeway, lane Drake, Sally Smith, Beve Wilcox, and Shirlee Henning sit down to eat their grass for breakfast, and while we are waiting for them to help us cut out our paper dolls, and since we, Faye Hart and Dee Stark, have already had our grass, we are imagining what is taking place at the reunion of the class of '5l. 'lhis reunion is being held at our old hangout-Big Reed's. First, we gaze upon the lite of the party, Iim Hoskins, and his old gang, Jim Ross. Max McCollum, Richard Graham, and Don Lint. They are finally getting around to doing the baseball pantomine they should have done at our Senior Party of '5l. They can make it realistic now because they are in the big leagues playing for the Dodgers. Their favorite hobby still, of course, is being successful tramps and riding the rails. Listen! A hush has fallen over the crowd and now the famous Tech-Spot-Singers, Iim Burt, Dick Boylan, and Fred Iones, step up to the microphone to give forth with their famous rendition of the 'Old South . just listen to that applausel. There are Bob Cabbage and Ierry Elliott fighting it out in the south corner of Reed's. They have good reason to fight, because jerry is coaching the Dodgers, former students from Tech, and Bob is coaching the Phillies, former students from North High. Oh, there'sApoor Harold Adams, the famous ambassador to France, sitting patiently in the corner with his millions, waiting for Shirlee Henning to escape from the asylum. And now, we see the renowned president and directors of the Art Center-Don Vaughn and his associates, Ianet Neibling, Mar- jorie Phoenix, Connie Pichon. Sharon Stevenson, Wesley Steuck- rath, and Dick Hainline. They have received world-wide fame in their field of art. No doubt, some day their pictures will be hang- ing in the art galleries of the world for their grandchildren to view. Ruth Dorsey is just arriving at the party. She had to get her four blond-haired, blue-eyed boys ready for bed before she came. Now, we will have a number from the band led by Don Dotson, the new director of the Great McNamara Band, One of the mem- bers of the band is Roger Ball and his sax. The band will be accompanied by the Melodious Three, Laura Holladay, Iudy Gray, and Carolyn Davis. They have taken the place of The Andrews Sisters in Hollywood. There are those famous Hollywood actors and directors known as the Three Richards of Hollywood. They're Richard Stevenson, Richard Wolfe, and Richard Clarkson, of course. Here come Ronnie Thompson and Bob Shawhan, just back from a meeting with the fellows at Herman's. Gloria Buford and Marilyn Campbell are discussing their careers as U. S. O. canteen entertainers in Korea. Along with their traveling, Marilyn is still trying to see her ambition fulfilled, that is-for Gloria to get married. There's Ierry Rodgers now, and along with being a happy hus- band, he has taken over Gene Krupa's drums. Whatta drummer! Now we see the widely known veterinarian, Iim Gruetzmacher, discussing animal problems with Richard Hansen, the most accom- plished lawyer of his time. They have a lot in common. We are sorry to interrupt the party, but we will now have to lay down our pen for awhile in order to eat our lunch-grass. Poor Pat and lane! They could have been great artists today, but they are satisfied to sit in the corner weaving little baskets out of their lunch. Beve and Sally are running around the cell like mad on their tricycles. They think they are driving stock cars at Kessell Speedway. Of course, Shirlee is patiently waiting for the day when she will escape and go back to Harold. Hey, you guys had better come and eat your QFGSS. We, Dee and Faye, could have been great comedians in the theatre world, but instead we are sitting here laughing at ourselves. But now we will eat- and back to the party. Marilyn Poage, Mary Iones, Iean Parsons, Delores Iones, Iackie Kusel, Richard Earll, and Don Clinton are having their daily laughs in the middle of the floor. They are all partners in a real estate business, and they are discussing their progress. No wonder theyire laughing. Hey, kids, it's no laughing matter. They're gangirig up on Russell Heaivilin, the chief engineer in the largest TV station. They're trying to sell him a house. Now, we know they'll go broke. Ierry Thompson and Iirn Scarbrough are sitting in a secluded corner as quiet as they always were. You know how shy they are. Ho! Ho! That's rich! All the kids will settle down and hear lack Mentzer sing a solo. He has won much fame in the field of singing, Don May arranges his schedule and helps him do away with his lettuce. Bev Roland and Bev Doolittle are telling several of the guests about their success in their department store business. They have several small concerns about Iowa. Kenney Poage and Milton fCorkyJ Northup just drove in in their hot rod. They didn't know they were supposed to leave it in the parking lot in the back. Oh well, a hot rod might add to the life of the party. Corky is doing all right in the field of aviation, and Kenney is now President of Younkers. They should give up that hot rod since they're such big men now. Ben Pruitt. now known as The Thing , is a comedian, but he is still working hard on his lifelong ambition-to outrun Don Lint's car with his motorcycle. Wish ya luck, Benny. Pat Eubanks is sho' attracting lots of attention, thanks to that high-necked?? gown of hers. As you know, she is now a model for magazine covers. Ierry Stone is working hard to achieve his ambition, but he doesn't seem to be sweating too badly, because he has no ambition. Don Robbins and Larry Barker are discussing their success as farmers and ministers. We all appreciate people such as they. Bill Laidlaw, Iohn Kleywegt, Tom Griffiths, and Ierry Bjork are talking and telling all about their great team, the Yankees. lt's time they got on the team and quit being water-boys, wouldn't you say? And now the center of attraction is the delegation from Iungle Town, the hobo haven. They are, Iim Miller. Bob Shearer, Ierry Hanes, and Don Coulter. Yes, lim did survive. Their profession is that of tramps. They are giving a few demonstrations of how they have succeeded so well. Ioe Waldron, Gorman Webb, and Kenny Truman just arrived in their new white bucks and just-pressed levis. They now manage the Battling Beetle Bomb Rib Breaker, Keith Neely. Keith has just received the title of the world's Heavyweight Champion Wrestler. George Rackleman now owns a book store. His hobby is drowning little baby ducks. Donald Mayberry and Horrell Cooper are conversing. Horrell has finished college and has started a privately-owned fix-it shop. Don is now an outfielder for the Boston Braves. Bill Mcfarlane just made a mad entrance to the party. Wonder wha' hoppen to him. Oh! Now, he's explaining that he is a stunt man for the Warner Brothers Circus. His stunt is falling down elevator shafts, and he has been practicing. Entering the party now is one of the recent Al14American Basket- ball champs, Robert LeRoy Jose, and his beautiful wife, the former Mary Spevak, now a famous Powers model. There are three members of the reunion who will not be able to attend this party. They are Tom Limke, Don Beatty, and Don Fackler. These three are outstanding television wrestlers. They had to stay home tonight to study their script for their performance tomorrow. Be sure and tune in on your television set to see them. Marianne Easter is now a successful housewife, President of the Retailers Association, and an outstanding Evangelist. She com- plains of not having enough to do. Oh, and her husband, well, hes a successful garbage collector. I Betty Friend, Marilyn Walston, Betty White, Eulene Iennings. Georgia Anderson, Iacque Day, and Iackie Williams are all wives of either top brass or high officials in Washington. These first ladies of the land just drove up in their Rolls Royce and left their husbands hashing over world affairs in the White House. I Helen Mart, Iane Iohnson, and Evelyn Iohn are discussing their unusual occupation. They are known as Octopus Trainers lncor- porated. They have quite a pressing job to do. I Chuck Hudnall is sitting in a booth brooding because his beautiful actress wife, Arlene Schmall, could not be here, because she is in ltaly making her recent picture, Sweet Oatmeal, a reproduction of Bitter Rice. Now, entering the gathering are Mr. G Mrs. Larry Evans. Colleen was slightly delayed because she worked at the State House late this evening. She is now the first woman Governor of lowa. I We have a full-fledged argument going on between Don Smith, Einstein's head assistant, and Pat Hunter, Christian Dior's head seamstress. Their main topic is which came first, the chicken or the egg. I Dale Love is now a millionaire. He invented a new kind of motorcycle that you don't have to ride or guide. lerry Smith, the former police lieutenant, was just -made co-owner of Violin's foot ball team. He's been a good friend of Daves ever since he raided his lounge and found only one bottle of Hadacol in his back room. Dallas Roemer is now a machinist in Uncle Sarn's Navy. Marlee Long has achieved her ambition.and is telling about how happy she is being Mrs. Sgt. R. F. Phillips. -r Dick Chance tells how he can afford those new Levi s he has on. He owns a resort in Colorado. He's earned? a million. - Wallace Bricker is still trying to be a success by doing good things. He just picked up the marbles that Lee Borg dropped on the floor. Nerve-wracking games like this are still Lee s favorite pastime. Oh, my goodness, Frank Hall just stepped on Wallace's arm and it is mutilated. But there's a nurse coming through the crowd' to help him. The nurse is Eleanor Hupton, who is also lerrys wife. Richard Howard finally achieved his ambition. He now has the honor of being a taxpayer. Darrell Harvey just announced that he was still planning to retire at 4U. He'll know how it feels to be a tramp. Don Baber says he now owns Solar Aircraft., Now, he can afford to buy a Captain Video T-shirt. He's talking to Harvey Cain, who just managed to buy a pair of Argyle socks, because he now owns a speed shop in California. Iim Anderson takes advantage of everything that can save some money. He's trying to talk Lawrence Croll, the great CClb1nel maker, into making him some furniture. No-wait! He offered to pay him for it. He sho has changed. Flash!! We hear that the oil well he bought from lack Benny just gushed. Kathryn Dilluvio is discussing her success as hostess. She re- cently took Pearl Mesta's place in that field. Erma Sorenson is explaining some theory she has hatched up. She is now the International Superintendent of Schools. Now, we hear a spinning of wheels and a big gush of wind and in comes Deloris Danner, now the National Women s Roller Skat- ing Champion. Francis Bailey has achieved his ambition of being Admiral and General of the Pacific Fleet. That uniform is a beauty! There's someone else in a uniform. She is making a career of serving her country by being in the Waves, Saphina Smith. There are Marvin Miller, and Bill Kirk blushing as a girl walks by. They always were bashful. Oh, the lights went out. What a riot! But there's Kim West a great electrician to turn them back on . . . Darnit! Kathryn Bailey's personality has brought her tame. She's talking to an audience at Hoyt Sherman about her recent trip to lndianola, and Altoona. Tom Burch is still making a valiant attempt to set a new wor1d's record for the mile at the Olympics. Dwight Barton is the head cheerleader of Oklahoma A G M. They have opened a new course in cheerleading, and he is the instructor. The party has almost drawn to a close. Oh, but wait, here come Delores and Ray Scott. They have just finished putting their fam- ily to bed. They have been having a little difficulty disciplining them lately. lt seems the don't believe all the things their teachers tell them about george Washington. They evidently inherited it from their father. Here comes the man in the little white coat. I think we had better hide our pencils and aper, so we will put this document in a bottle and throw it out tlcfe window of our cell. Will whoever finds it please send it to the Warrior and Technician Staffs at Des Moines Technical High School?
