ANCHOR DRAWN STEEL CO. LATHOBE, PA. I X During your four years in High School under capable instructors you should have learned how to study-The important y thing is that you continue your education. There is plenty of opportun' talents. You are ity for all to develop their a citizen of your community, your state and your nation. It is important that you fit yourself to take your part in community life. Never in the past have younger men and women been more welcome as counselors by their elders. To those of you who will go to colleges or technical schools, I recommend that you select one nearby. We face a divided world but few believe that a physical war is probable. The battle is for the minds of men. Marxism has made inroads in our National thinking. There are those who would divide us into classes and accept the ideas of Karl Marx as to the eternal enmity between employer and employees. We have faith in the superiority of our civilization based upon individualism and we believe in teamwork. Today we have as leaders in government men of outstand- ing ability, religious, honest and fairxand ardent believers in teamwork. They face the future with courage, confident that with time our difficulties can be solved in peace. As a people we are better educated than ever before. Re- search in industry and in medicine is making great progress. I Business and industry as never before are interested in education. To some extent the socialistic propaganda of govern- ment is being offset by private organizations defending free com- petitive enterprise. In your advancement you will have competi- tion as well as opportunity. Our greatest service to the world is to prove by example that free men can with contentment out-produce regimentation. We will advance by working together as a team. Sincerely yours, ROY C. McKENNA Ch ' axrman of the Board V anadium-Alloys Steel Company S I 60
