They supply the student body with educational and social benefits. Their numerous responsibilities include sponsoring assemblies, dances, movies, and selling refreshments at all games. This year the Student Council bought the Commercial Department a new mimeograph machine. This is only one of the many projects sponsored bythe Student Council. Three senior members and Mr. Grote attended the Pennsyl- vania State Convention at West View High School, Pittsburgh, where they got many useful ideas that were used to malce a more progressive school, Congratulations are due to this group For excellent progress in our council throughout the year. Ohfiafo ey The William Penn History Club sponsored by Mrs. Phyllis Humphreys, is considered one of the most worth while organizations in the Derry High School. In 1949 the club was organized and the following year became a member of the Federation of Junior Historians. Much enthusiasm is displayed by the members at regular monthly meetings and on various historical and educational trips.
