P.'s were Joan Chocltla, Cheerleader, and Marigrace Hensler, Student Council member, We made our debut in the form of an assembly in which we presented a play, Wilbur's Wild Night. We gained recognition by winning first prize for our Float in the Homecoming Day Parade. We very anxiously returned, our sophomore year. This time our officers were: Anna Barron, President, Bill Dillon, Vice-President, Jorge Rhodes, Secretary, and Phyllis lvlcflune, Treasurer. ivlarigrace l-lensler was again elected to the Student Council. Qur third year was one ol excitement and activity. Qur officers were: l-lerb Boyer, President, Jorge Rhodes, Vice-President, Bill Dillon, Secretary, and Wess Palmer, Treasurer. Qur Student Council member was Anna Barron, and because we were upperclassmen, we could elect two additional members, they were Patty Pollard and Shirley Rupert. We presented our Prom, Moonlight and Rosesf' which was a huge success. We also enjoyed practicing for our class play, MCn the Beam. And then, the big day Finally arrived when we became Seniorsl We were happy, but still in our hearts we felt lcind of sorry that this would be our last year at DBHS. l lerb Boyer was again elected President, Pete l.anza, Vice-President, Anita Sylvester, Secretary, and Fred Galosi, lreasurer. Gur Student Council members remained the same as the previous year, Though we never had a dull moment, we bid farewell to our Alma Mater with damp eyes .... We liked our middle state. The Junior class enjoyed the wonderful privilege of being upper- classmen, under the guidance of Mrs. Adams and Mr. Wingard. The winter months went past so soon with their games, dances, assemblies, and parties. Most wonderful ol all was our shiny new class rings. Then there was the prom. lt was even more exciting this year be- cause it was our own project. Now we realize we have only one more year of high school. ANCHOR DRAWN STEEL CO. LATHOBE, PA. I X During your four years in High School under capable instructors you should have learned how to study-The important y thing is that you continue your education. There is plenty of opportun' talents. You are ity for all to develop their a citizen of your community, your state and your nation. It is important that you fit yourself to take your part in community life. Never in the past have younger men and women been more welcome as counselors by their elders. To those of you who will go to colleges or technical schools, I recommend that you select one nearby. We face a divided world but few believe that a physical war is probable. The battle is for the minds of men. Marxism has made inroads in our National thinking. There are those who would divide us into classes and accept the ideas of Karl Marx as to the eternal enmity between employer and employees. We have faith in the superiority of our civilization based upon individualism and we believe in teamwork. Today we have as leaders in government men of outstand- ing ability, religious, honest and fairxand ardent believers in teamwork. They face the future with courage, confident that with time our difficulties can be solved in peace. As a people we are better educated than ever before. Re- search in industry and in medicine is making great progress. I Business and industry as never before are interested in education. To some extent the socialistic propaganda of govern- ment is being offset by private organizations defending free com- petitive enterprise. In your advancement you will have competi- tion as well as opportunity. Our greatest service to the world is to prove by example that free men can with contentment out-produce regimentation. We will advance by working together as a team. Sincerely yours, ROY C. McKENNA Ch ' axrman of the Board V anadium-Alloys Steel Company S I 60 Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 1954 CU?
