As the 1052-1953 Basketball season came to an end the Ramblers. coached by Pat Bucci. found themselves in third place in Section XV. The Rams opened their schedule by defeating Latrobe by a close margin 65-63. Derry then lost their second game to Hurst 61-53, However, the Buccimen bounced hack to down Derry Twp. 65-56. The llams could not seem to win away from home as they suffered three more losses on strange floors by Ramsay 58-48. llerry Twp. 60-52 and Latrobe 55-38. Derry managed to win two more on their home court by downing llam- say 77-55 and Hurst 66-53, before entering league competition. As League play got under way Derry defeated Ligonier in a lard oug t contes mo-1 . ie ai able to win away from home, bowed to lrwin 77-63. Returning to their home court the Ramblers won over Frtmklin Twp. 75-61-, but with their jinx following them to Export the llerrians were victims of a 80-71 de- feat. The Hams got back on the win- ning trail with the Alumni on the short end of a 68-59 score. Bucci's boys then took on the Bobeatis of lilairsville which they downed by a comfortable margin 71-43. Derry traveled to Penn Twp. where, for the first time, they proved they could play ball on a strange floor by defeating them with a score of 73-51. ln the second half the Ramblers got off to a poor start. They lost to Ligonier 71-66 and lrwin 56- 5-11 before downing the Franklin Long-horns 89-53. The Rams con- tinued to win as they revenged a preiious setback at the hands of lixport in a free scoring duel 99-76 and defeated Kiski 80-65 in an ex- hibition tilt. Boro then met the Bob- cats on the latter's floor. When the smoke cleared the score read 55-54, Blairsville. The Ramblers played host to the l'enn lndians and were victorious by a record breaking score of 109-64 in which Hofmann, 11oro's scoring ace. established a new school floor record of I0 points in one contest. l f h t fo F4 T1 It ns still un- Hofmann also was high scorer in the section with 257 points.
