Klym, R. In the Civics Club of Derry Borough High School, under the capable guidance of Mr. Wingard, we had a wonderful year. But all in all there are some things we would rather forget, such as tests and nightwork for Civics. The club consisted of freshmen members only, and has an enrollment of thirty-five students. No time was wasted and we began immediately the election of officers. 'Who said, this isn't a man's world ? The officers of our club are as follows: president, Ronald Mc- Kinneyg vice-president, Richard Rhodesg secretary, John Klym and treasurer, Samuel Avampato. During the school term we enjoyed two parties, with the committees doing a wonder- ful job at both. We spent the evenings dancing, playing games, and, of course, eating. Also during the year we held contests, one on Christmas Poems and Essays, and the other, Posters of Citizenship. The winners were Ralph Luster and William While. We also enjoyed wonderful and interesting trips to the Westinghouse and to a Council Meeting. The members will never forget the things they learned and the fun they have had in this organization. We also hope that the oncoming freshmen will benefit as much from the club as this year's members have. . -M-A We .W ....::i...',.': ....' it . .W ' ' - 1 --L . In 1942, the Club was organized and the following year became a member of the Federation of Junior Historians. The William Penn History Club, besides being educational, is the one club in which you are sure to have fun along with business. During this year we have had very interest- ing trips and meetings. We were honored this year by holding the annual Convention in our high school. All in all the History Club is one of the finest clubs organized and shall long be re- membered by all of its present and past members. Singing for the Christmas Assembly brought many thrills to- the members as well as those who heard the beautiful music. The Chorus, under the capable direction of Mrs. Eleanor Pryce, worked hard each week to achieve per- fection. Strains of music were heard throughout the halls every Monday evening after school. The Sextette, a group of girls chosen from the Chorus, almost helped in making the pmt year a more enjoyable one. They sang at assemblies and many community pro- grams. The Chorus and its director deserves much praise for the wonderful job they have done in the past year.
