In 1942, the Club was organized and the following year became a member of the Federation of Junior Historians. The William Penn History Club, besides being educational, is the one club in which you are sure to have fun along with business. During this year we have had very interest- ing trips and meetings. We were honored this year by holding the annual Convention in our high school. All in all the History Club is one of the finest clubs organized and shall long be re- membered by all of its present and past members. The Student Council is one of the most important organizations in our school. They have the responsibility of sponsoring assemblies, dances, movies, and selling refresh- ments at the football and basket ball games. At the beginning of the year council members elected officers to guide them during the term and under their sponsor, Mr. Landis, the Student Council has proved to be ' ' ' ident Thomas Dillon, vice-president, 'Mary Ann worthwhile. Those servlng were pres , Doraziog secretary, Shirley Leone, treasurer, Glen Waiteg librarian, Marigrace Hensler. The funds from the year's activities were used to purchase equipment for the office, auditorium and gymnasium. Three members of the Student Council attended the State Student Government Con- ference at Kittanning on October 18, 19, and 20. Ideas and views on Student Govern- ment were given by students from various schools. These ideas will be used to make ours a happy, orderly, and more progressive school.

Klym, R. In the Civics Club of Derry Borough High School, under the capable guidance of Mr. Wingard, we had a wonderful year. But all in all there are some things we would rather forget, such as tests and nightwork for Civics. The club consisted of freshmen members only, and has an enrollment of thirty-five students. No time was wasted and we began immediately the election of officers. 'Who said, this isn't a man's world ? The officers of our club are as follows: president, Ronald Mc- Kinneyg vice-president, Richard Rhodesg secretary, John Klym and treasurer, Samuel Avampato. During the school term we enjoyed two parties, with the committees doing a wonder- ful job at both. We spent the evenings dancing, playing games, and, of course, eating. Also during the year we held contests, one on Christmas Poems and Essays, and the other, Posters of Citizenship. The winners were Ralph Luster and William While. We also enjoyed wonderful and interesting trips to the Westinghouse and to a Council Meeting. The members will never forget the things they learned and the fun they have had in this organization. We also hope that the oncoming freshmen will benefit as much from the club as this year's members have. . -M-A We .W ....::i...',.': ....' it . .W ' ' - 1 --L .
