,gy ENDEAVOR T0 CREATE CITIZENS OF TOM f giififl 3 If reall? .1 T jg W7 As long as the students at Derry Township High School could remember, the high school building always was and always would be just the same. Much to everyoneis dismay, on Iuly 6, 1952, there occurred in the same Township a Hre which, without the efforts of the school board, the faculty, the citizens of Derry Township, and the students themselves, would have divided the students among the several nearby high schools. Fortunately, this did not happen, and although conditions are not normal, the pupils are together. WVhile the freshmen are at West Derry Grade School building, they are still a part of the high school and are brought over for the various assemblies, basketball games, and pep meetings. Because the chemistry laboratory was demolished in the fire, the students of chemistry and physics do their lab work at Derry Borough High School. The cleaning up of the refuse of the Fire, the buying of new books, and the reconstruction of the part of the building that was destroyed, fell upon the shoulders of the administration. For seven weeks they raced against time to have the dwelli ready for the opening of school in September.
