CHARACTER . . . . ND FIRM BODIES Miss Nakles' personality has made her an outstanding member of the faculty and will cause her memory to remain with us for many years to come. Miss Nakles is a commercial teacher. Miss Nicol, a friend to all, will be remembered long after the memories of school days begin to fade. Miss Nicol is sponsor of the debate and person- ality clubs and the senior class. Mrs. Pilato's ever present cheerfulness, retained self possession, and willingness to help the students have gained her many friends in addition to respect and admiration by all who know her. Mrs. Pilato teaches Algebra. Mr. Pilato, his his first year at Derry Township, has proven his worth as a history teacher. Mr. Pilato is a pleasant teacher to talk to and has made a favorable impression. Mr. Shannon, who always has a welcoming smile and a friendly hello , is the teacher of vocational agriculture. With actual experience and common sense Mr. Shannon has guided our future farmers to more productive ideas. Mr. Struble, a freshman English teacher, has a favor- ite saying for his students every day. Mr. Struble is head of the student council and has done an excellent iob of keeping order and discipline. Mr. Stump has become a friend to all who know him and is willing to discuss and help solve any problem that faces the students. Mr, Stump teaches P. of D. and General Science. Mr. Urch is the head of the science department and teaches chemistry and physics. He always has a tale to tell about his experiences as a commer- cial chemist before he came to Derry Township. Mr. Weber, a pleasant and helpful man, has helped many stu- dents through solid geometry and trigonometry. Mr. Weber expects a student to do only his best and no more. He is also assistant coach. Mrs. Zamperini, a gay, expressive commercial teacher, teaches typing, shorthand and sales. Her co- i operation has made her a friend, as well as a teacher, to the students. 7111! ydcllffly .... BUILDERS or MIND Mr. Baran teaches Pennsylvania history, civics, and coaches football in the evenings. Never a harsh word is said about Mr. Baran because he has won a place in all our hearts. Mr. Beck, a newcomer to Derry Townshop this year, is the boy's physical education and health teacher. Mr. Beck has an admirable personality and has proven how easily he can make friends with everyone. Miss Brindle teaches American history, heads the Der Tow staff and supervises our cheerleaders. A busy bee is Miss Brin- dle but she never fails to add a bit of humor to a day's work. Mr. Caputo, the head of the foreign language de- partment, is a very industrious teacher who sel- dom asks favors of anyone. Mr. Caputo is head of the library and the French and Latin clubs. Mr. Conti is the teacher of biology and also head coach of the football squad. He has done a very good iob and won many admirers in the classroom and on the football field. Mr. Edmunds, another of our commercial teachers, is easy going and never seems to worry about the future. He is supply manager for the Derry Township Athletic Association and is also the school secretary. Mr. Fink, as director of music, has furthered the music desires of many students. As director of the band and orchestra, he has furnished fine entertainment at our assemblies and football games. Miss Goldberg, in her first year at Derry Township, has made friends with all the students. Her radiant smile has made her welcome in our school. Miss Goldberg is advisor of speech activities. Mrs. Graham, a friendly little teacher in the commercial depart- ment never spares herself to help others. As teacher of typing, J. B. T,, and shorthand, Mrs. Graham is endeared tc all'of us. Miss Kasperik, iunior English teacher, is always ready with o cheery word when the students are low. Miss Kasperik is sponsor of the Tri-Hi-Y and dram- atic coach for 'the iunior class play cast. BALEGA, STEVE-has a lot of friends makes friends easily and always manages to keep them rhails from Peanut , is a member of the Hi-Y. BEl.lAK, CHARLES-comes from Brenizer...likes all kinds of sports . Chuck is quiet but once you know him he is a good companion .he is sure to succeed. BERNARD, GRACE-a quiet girl who is well-liked by everyone , .. reading is her favorite pastime, loves romance and adven- ture ,, a willing worker with a bright future. 16
