Laetae Latinae The Laetae Latinae were again ac- tive in making students aware of their Latin heritage. AEGIS. the club newspaper, was published with fea- tures, jokes, and poems in or about Latin. A Roman banquet highlighted the year. Other events included view- ing movies, giving Short Latin plays, and hearing a guest speaker. Presidentg Helene Liebe Mary Beth McGroarty, Secretary, When it came into being last fall, the Spanish Club received enthusiastic support from many students. Attend- ing frequent meetings, its members enjoyed a number of festive Latin American celebrations and pinzita parties, and entertained several guest speakers as well. Participating in activities, the girls receive a rich background in Latin American tra- dition. Spanish Officers: Front: Mary Ann Quinn, Maureen McCormick, Jeanne La Bore. Absent: Mary Kay Bisanz, Anita Hissam, LE CERCLE FRANCAIS Le Cercle Francis. for second and third year French students, gives the students a richer meaning of the French language. Christmas and Spring editions of LE COR. the club paper, were planned and published. Ar the bimonthly meetings French entertainment was provided by the members. The Club also participated in the Mardi Gras. Fleur de Lis LE FLEUR de LIS In addition to Le Cercle Francais, the seniors were able to belong to a new French Club, Le Fleur de Lis. This year's seniors are the first to have completed the recently offered four year French curriculum. Mem- bership in the Le Fleur de Lis is an honor allowed only to those students who have mastered four years of Frenchg thus, this is the first year the club has been in existence. En- couraging the extended French . course. the club hopes that in the future it will expand to include many of those students presently in Le Cercle Francais. ational Honor Society NATIONAI. HONOR SOCIETY The Derham Hall Chapter of the National Honor Society put forth new roots in this, it's second year. Looking to Deborah Dokken, as president, the six charter members welcomed five more seniors into the organization. Later in the year, eli- gible juniors were admitted. Activi- ties included a Christmas party given for a needy family, and an induction ceremony for the new members. Also, the society established a precedent by holding several joint meetings with the Cretin chapter. The Nation- al Honor Society is open to junior and senior honor students who have demonstrated the qualities of Character, Leadership, and Service during their high school careers Ihe 'Nl itional Honor Soticty members Front Wqfb Kay Yagdflii Debbie Dokken President, Mary Marg Conroy. In addition to refereeing, each girl planned and presided over at least one gym class during the year. Referee Club: Bottom: jane Angvik, Mary Lannin, Judy Angvik.
