Cheerleaders Bring Spirit to Derby Derby's cheering section this year was more en- thusiastic than ever before. It's no wonder, since all this spirit was led by 19 cheerleaders and the pep band, neither of which Derby has ever had in the past. Guided by their sponsor, Miss Grubb, the girls earned money to buy new uniforms and practiced hard learn- ing new cheers and chants. The cheerleaders often held pep rallies in the morning to get the students' spirit aroused for the game. The girls have really done a good job this year. They cheered for the football players, the basketball . players and the swim team. This year's squad gave the Xl Dragons plenty of encouragement.
