CLASS HI TORY The class of 1950 upon graduation looks back with fond remembrance to their hlgh school day s Many are leavmg D H S and plan to further their education m higher mstltutrons and others making therr mark m the busmess and mdustrlal fields Clearly remembered IS the first meetlng held by the freshman classes durlng which the Central Hugh class elected Van Konst as president Donald Albrecht as vnce president James Wojcxechowskx as secretary and Thomas Groves as treasurer At the same time the North Jumor Hlgh freshmen elected as their president James Gibbs Nancy Sharpe as vlce president Anne Mohr as secretary and Arlene Lux as treasurer He who does not advance falls behind was chosen as the class motto the Amer1can Beauty became our class flower and Blue and Gold our colors The north side class sponsored a successful Hallowe en dance and at Chrlstmas time had a class dmner followed by a dance Wlth Mrs Lnlhan Bartlow as their advisor the Freshman class closed a very active year wlth a spring dance Under the advlsorshnp of Mrs Mary Dombrowskl the Central Freshman class had a successful drawmg for a turkey and two very enjoyable dances were held a Thanksgiving Dance and a Valentme Dance We Joined forces in our Sophomore y ear under the leadership of Mr Wllbur Wllllams and elected Donald Becker as president Van Konst as vice president Anne Mohr as secretary and Natalle Krzywxckl as treasurer Durmg our Sophomore year we held three skatmg parties and for the first tune ln the history of orgamzed classes at Depew an Inter Class Dance was held Gulded by James Gilmore as presldent Nancy Sharpe as vlce president Loxs White as secretary and Van Konst as treasurer and with Mr Hugh Stock as our advisor we advanced to the Jumor year Included in our plans for the Jumor year was a Turkey Trot and a drawlng for a television set followed by the long awaited J umor Prom Natalie KIZyWlCkl and Joseph Mrozek relgned as kmg and queen with Arlene Lux Marcella Jezlorskl Graham Moore and James Gibbs At long last we had reached our Semor year and forged ahead 1nto a whirl wind of events under the watchful ey e of Mr Marco Guerra and our officers for the year with Van Konst as pres: dent Paul Pxonessa as vlce presldent Ann Mascla as treasurer and Lula Dnce as secretary The year 1949 1950 saw the resumption of skatmg parties with the seniors holding two ln the early part of thelr senior year In Aprll the tradltlonal Inter Class Dance was held Thls year also saw the begmnmg of a new Idea to cllmax the Semor hugh actlvltles The Jumor and Semor classes after due delxberatlon decided to combme the Jumor Prom and Semor Ball mto one huge affalr the Semor Jumor Prom Ball The kung and queen were chosen from the Jumor class whlle the Semor class provided the prmce and princess Thls mnovatlon proved to be a tremendous success After thls affair the seniors began making preparatlons for their Class Night Follownng the well attended Class Nlght the energles of the Semors were taken up by the final exams and then GRADU ATIONV The perfect endmg to twelve years of preparatlon and learmng 'Now upon leavlng we ynsh our successors for the years to come a great measure of en Joy ment happlness and accomplishment ln thelr hlgh school years A yye look back we can truthfully say It was tlme ysell spent 30 ' 9 9 U U 1 c 0 9 9 ' 5 - 9 9 9 ' 9 ee - 99 , v - , . . . . . , 1 . . , J . 9 ' 9 ' 9 . 7 - 0 9 ' 9 ' 9 9 9 ln attendance. , . , - A v . 9 ' 9 9 ' , ' 1' . , ' . . 9 9 - , ' Q .
