Sophomore Dance On October 21 the Sophomore Class held their first senior high get-together, Rhythm Rhapsody. The music of the Blue Notes floated across the gaily decorated gym for the enjoyment of the sophomores and their dates from eight to eleven p.m., and talented members of the class presented acts to further enliven the evening. A sophomore couple swings to the music of the Blue Notes at Rhythm Rhapsody. Homecoming Dance Tempos in T Formation was the theme of the Homecoming Dance held on October 10. Both gyms were uniquely decorated with a web of purple and white streamers, and the tempos of Hoagie Harper and Bob Capelli enhanced the enjoyment of hundreds of couples. Our football team contributed to the success of the evening with their 25-6 victory over North. Dave Isaac captivates the audience ot the Color Day Show with his monologue for Sea Scape. Purple And White Dau Show The grand finale of the talent performances of South was the Purple and White Day Show. One of the year's best productions, Sea Scape disproved the superstition that Friday the 13th is unlucky as the show progressed with smooth perfection to the crowning of the class queen, After winning in competitive auditions, the acts from the three classes, sophomore, junior and senior, practiced diligently to present their talent on behalf of their class to honor the royal court. Traditionally the President of Folio Leaves begins the show with a monologue. Ai- ter President Dave Isaac opened the show, the class queens were crowned as the silent au- dience watched with anticipation. Amid the sobs of dateless senior girls Sea Scape began the 1960 Purple and White Day festivities. -I

The mellow melodies of Wayne Case and orchestra float over Key Klub Klomp to create an atmosphere of blue cmd gold in the gaily decorated gym. A huge key dominates decorations in the boys' gym, emphasizing Key Club's dedication to service as one of the gate- ways to successful living. Keg Klub Kmmp Under streamers of gold and blue, Southern couples danced to the music of Wayne Case and his orchestra from nine until the magic hour of twelve. The traditional Klomp, spon- sored by Key Club, was planned by dance chairman Steve Nellis with the help of fellow members and held on November 14. Presi- dents of other Key Clubs in the city were wel- come guests of honor. An additional attraction at the dance was singer Bob Swanson, South High Rebel, who sang Igloo, a song which he recently recorded. Couples at- tired in semi-formal dress danced to the orchestra of Bob Capelli. Sponsored by the All-City Student Council, the gala affair was an effort to bring stu- dents trom every school together to enjoy an evening of fun. Over three hundred couples at- tended from the hours of nine to twelve. The hour of twelve is ready to strike for this Cinderella at Fantasia as the enchantment draws swiftly to cx close.
