Roundup Hundreds of enthusiastic Rebels crowded into the faculty parking lot be- fore the East-South game for refresh- ments and a rally. Two of South's smallest supporters were present to add their voices to the cheers. In uniform to lead the procession to the stadium were the cheerleaders, Pom-Pom girls, Pep Club and band. The S Club and Key Club boys formed a long corridor for the high-spirited marchers. Riding high after their Roundup, the Rebs form a long gray line to the stadium as they prepare to battle with East. K ... Me and my shadow, say the Pom- Pom girls, as mascots Ken and Haney whirl, jump and cavort for the crowd. The Pep Club girls spell out the secret mes- sage, SOUTH, which they carried hallway around the world in their marching exhibition. td v -. U . Pep Club own Carrying a message from the South to the East was the theme of the half-time exhibition presented by the South High Pep Club on October 17. The message first traveled on a steamboat of Pep Club girls to the Far East, where a rickshaw continued the journey across the continent. The scroll containing the message then unwound, and the girls revealed their secret with the information of the word SOUTH. Many long hours of hard work and prac- tice by Mrs. Lyon and Miss Floyd, sponsors: ludy McClung, drill leader, Heidi Markisen, writer of the script: and all the Pep Club members made this spectacular demonstration possible.

Rev. LeRoy King imparts the spirit of Thanksgiving in his message to all faiths. p Christmas Concert Traditionally the Christmas Concert is one of the finest and most impressive as- semblies of the year. Perhaps in no other assembly are there so many par- ticipants - the number exceeded 400. Under the direction of Mr. Dana Wells and Mrs. Clarice Williams, the Mixed Chorus, Girls' Choir, Girls' Ensemble, Beginning Choir cmd Concert Choir sang spirituals, traditional carols, modem and classical selections. 16 Thanksgiving Assennblq With an air of reverence and thankfulness, South students ga- thered together on November 25 to hear Reverend LeRoy King from Grace Methodist Church speak on a Thanksgiving theme. Hi-Y, a Chris- tian organization for young men, sponsored this assembly and in ad- dition rendered service to the com- munity with their collection and distribution of canned goods to needy families in Denver. The robed choral groups inspire the audience, calling to mind the true meaning of Christmas.

Mother-Daughter Tea The annual fashion show and tea, held on May 5, had an enthusiastic attendance of mothers and daughters. Pep Club members modeled sportswear, school clothes, cocktail dresses and formal evening wear for an audience of five hundred mothers and daughters. A tea was then given in South Court by the Pep Club. Robin Morris, fashion show chairman, and Shirley Hawkins, Pep Club president, made this another successful activity of their club. lack Leingang apparently doesn't realize he's a most lucky fellow to he escorting sparkling Pep Club coordinator Robin Morris in the annual spring fashion show. Lovely flowers, delicious punch and helpful Pep Club girls made the Sophomore Tea a memorable event. Sophomore Tea A Rustic Welcome was given to all sopho- more girls by the Pep Club on September 24. The new girls were introduced to Southern Cus- toms and enjoyed the performances of a mixed quartet and a Dixieland ensemble. Refreshments were then served by the peppy hostesses. This activity gave the sophomore girls an opportunity to get acquainted with the Pep Club cmd their new senior high classmates.
