After winning their two practice games from Englewood and Boulder by the scores of 27-6 and l3-6 respectively, the Confederates dropped their first league game to West on a 13-2 verdict. The girls spend one hour a day working Pre-School Assistants One ofthe most entertaining jobs around South is being a pre-school assistant. However, the work is not as easy as it sounds, for trying to keep youngsters out of mischief and happy at the same time is quite a chore. The pre-school assistants the office-tiling, typing, making records, or ing errands. These students are volunteer 's, and the office clerks have tound them be indispensable aids. Q X . Band One of the most necessary things at a football game is a band, and since South had an excellent band this year, maybe that is why we played such good football, The band drilled with the Pep Club girls between halves, and also marched in'the Armistice Day Parade. A number of concerts were presented tor the students and the public during the year. Mr, Roberts and Mr. Bagley were the conductors of the band. Orchestra The orchestra has created two kinds of mus lovers at South-the ones who like to play mus and the ones who like to hear it played. For th reason, concerts by the orchestra are great' enjoyed by all the students. Senior Military Society This year, the Senior Military Society met every Tuesday morning before school. This is one ot the newest organizations at South, and it was formed for the purpose ot discussing problems pertain- ing to the R.O.T.C., promoting recreation tor the cadets, and studying advanced military opera- tions. Members of the group are senior boys who have taken tour or tive semesters of R.O.T.C. Members ot the club decorate the showcases in the halls, and this year they had charge ot the sale ot Christmas cards made by the art classes. Bob Mitchell and Floy Phillips were the presidents ot the club, and Miss Fisher is the sponsor. Movie Operators This is one group that really is indispensable to South, for the movie operators are the boys that run the motion picture machines in the class- rooms and at assemblies. During the past few years, visual education has gained a prominent place in classroom studies, thus creating a de- mand for operators.
