John Kurtt honored the student body and the alumni by giving the pep talk. The Cyclones played host to the Dunk- erton nRa1ders.n The half time was high- lighted by a parade of the four queen candidates: Marlys Bergmann, Carol Heine- man, Diane Sage, and Beverly Schnursteln. Although the Cyclones gave their best, D.H.S. suffered its first homecoming loss with the score being 52-6. The climax of the event was the Home- coming dance. Diane Sage was crowned queen by the football captain, Dale Uoepke. The queen candidates were es- corted by Craig Wolfensperger, Alan Hen- nings, Dick Moeller, snd'Yen Olson. Then on the day that Father Spence was to preach the conference ser- mon, he fell down the cel- lar stairs and injured himself. However, Hartzell proved to be a capable substitute. Father's dream for a new church was soon fulfilled with all members contributing their time and money for construction of the church and person- age. On April 5 and 6, the stage of D.H.S. was trans- formed into the run-down, dilapidated parsonage at Laketon, Iowa, where Rev. Spence had just been as- signed. Reverend and Mrs. Spence always faced many problems when they first came to a new parsonage. This time their hopes were to build a new church and parsonage.
