' 1 . 1 .-I G. D. VUE 1940-1969 As a young man, G. D. Tate chose to become an educator. He prepared himself well by attending Wayland Baptist College and later transferring to Texas Technological College where he received his BS and M.Ed Degrees. His career began at Rhoda School District in Stonewall County. After one year, he moved to Sunset School Disfrict in Floyd County Qnow South Plainsj as principal for four years. Next, he became principal at Sand Hills, Floyd County for two years. The next two years were spent as elementary principal at Lockney, Texas. Then hebecame high school principal at Lockney High School for nine years. In 1940, he came to the booming oil town of Denver City as high school principal. He faced a tremendous challenge of starting and accreditinganew high school. Under his expert guidance, D,C.H.S. became one or tne lead- ing high schools in the State of Texas. ln September 1954, Mr. Tate returned to his first love, elementary principal of Denver City Public Schools. Thus, he rounded out 47 years of dedicated service to the youth of Texas. The staff realizes that mere words cannot express the love and appreciation of all his former students and co-workers. So: they simply say Thank you, Mr. Tate for a job well done. We dedicate this 1969 Mustang to you, realizing that to have contacted you on our educational route is a rare privilege.
