This has been a momentous year in the annals of world history. Possibly no student body in the Denver City High School has been more challenged by the many problems of a war-torn world. On the other hand, you have been inspired by the sacrifice and selfless devotion to the American ideals of the men and women serving and fighting and dying in the defense of our nation. The g am e ne s s with which you have faced the peculiar uncertainness of the times has been en- couraging to all of us who stand on the sidelines and wish you well. You have lived and planned and played with such resoluteness that we feel sure that our country will be in safe hands when it be- comes yours to take over the helm. I hope for each of you the best of everything in the years that lie ahead. In the experiences and problems that appear on each new horizon there will be found opportunities for personal d e v e lo pm e nt, for service, and for achievement, which will challenge every student to the upmo st. To the teachers and adminstrators there is as great a challenge in the opportunity to aid, to encourage, to stimulate, and to direct the student facing for the first time the New Horizons.
