The Dentsville High School Chapter, National Forensic League, was formally chartered in November, 1960, and is the outgrowth of the Debate Club, which was organized a year earlier. In the short period since speech activities were formally inaugurated at Dents- ville, a speech class open to selected juniors and seniors was instituted, students have participated in tournaments as far away as Miami, and numerous awards and trophies have been won. Some of these in- clude: the South Carolina High School League Sweep- stakes Negative; superior and excellent ratings in externproaneous and interpretive speaking; and indi- vidual interscholastic contest awards sponsored by national civic organizations.
