Student Council The Student Council, a member of the state and national organization, has sponsored activities that pro- moted school spirit and school unity during the year. Some of these have been home-coming game activities, music-in-the-cafeteria, Religious Emphasis Week, de- votions over the P. A. system, a white Christmas program with baskets for the needy, safety and clean-up drives, and the publishing of the student handbook for 1961-62. Two of its members attended the Student Council workshop at Socareda the past summer and David Givens was elected president of the SCASC at the 1960 state convention. Dentsville will be host to the 1961 conven- tion next fall. Hanna Engehardt, Linda Scholl, representatives to the state Student Council workshop, David Givens and Jimmy Salters work on Student Council plans for 1960-61. 64
