Cookie named Queen Broncos win 35-14 A very special time of the year is always Homecoming, which was September 27th through October 1. The theme of this year' Homecoming was DHS Night at the Movies. This theme materialized into the floats at the parade. The floats depicted a number o different movie themes, such as Raiders of the Lost Bronco , by the Commercial Arts Department, winner of the Sweepstake Award. Also in keeping with the movie theme, Thursday of Homecoming week was Movie Star Day, which brought students to schoo masquerading as Annie, Groucho Marx, Shirley Temple, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Raggedy Anne, and many more. Other specia dress-up days were Occupation Day, Punk vs. Prep Day, 50s and 60s Day, and the usual Purple and Gold Day. Homecoming was especially meaningful this year to Cookie Iackson, who was crowned Homecoming Queen at the football gamt on Friday night. Her court consisted of, Lori Bomar: Senior Princess, Misti Morris: Iunior Princess, and Anne Bresnahan: Sophomort Princess. Other Homecoming week activities included a carnival on Wednesday night, with assorted booths from the different clubs, and scheduled bonfire, although this had to be cancelled because the Key Club could not find a place to put it. The week finally closed with a dance and the football game. The Denton Broncos defeated W. T. White with a score of 35 to 14 After the game, the dance was held at T.W.U. until 1:00 a.m. I thought the dance turned out extremely well, said Student Council sponsor Emma Ioe Yarbrough. About 750 people came. Al I v 1 Cookie jackson, with escort Williard jackson, sobs as she is named Homecoming Queen. 30 I-IOMECOMING
