A generous public voted the bond appropriation for the 'zdream build- ing in the Fall of 1955. Designed to house some 1,000 students, the plant 1 will expand through the addition of wings and annexes to accommodate, 1 1 eventually, about 3,000. 1 1 1 1 . These good ladies teach a variety of subjects to the neophyte business men and women, including typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, and general business methods. Her job: open it without the bellls ringing! Distributive Education, taught and supervised at Denton High School by Homer Bronstad, is a new concept in education. Students attend regular high school classes half of each day, then go to jobs which they either obtained for themselves, or which were gotten for them through the pirogram. Local businessmen who participate in the DE program have nothing but high praise for the kind of employees furnished to them from the classes. Coach Vern Lane stepped into the Driver Education slot this year, replacing Doyle Chrisman, who was kicked upstairs into the principal's job over at Sam Houston Elementary. Eaves joined the faculty at mid-term last year, coming from Gainesville, where he and his wife both were teaching. Perhaps no other department has brought more favorable attention to Denton High's dramatics and speech department. Ruben James carries the ball while Nubbin Jolly, Don Brown, and Gary Shaw open up the Denison line. The Broncos outplayed Arlington all over the field October 19, but lost the game 18-6 on bad breaks. Ruben James is pictured being stopped after a nice gain. Moving in is Nubbin Jolly. The Broncos played the number two team in the state, Wichita Falls, October 26. The outclassed Denton eleven, trail- ing 4-0-0 at the half, held the Coyotes scoreless during the last half. The final gun sounded with the score still 40-0. On November 2, the Broncos held heavily favored Grand Prairie to one hard-earned touchdown in a game which ended with the Gophers on top 7-0. Grand Prairie i'-o scored in the second period and concentrated on ward- ing off three Bronco threats the rest of the game. At Velet M- right a Denton Ball carrier, assisted by two blockers, Y goes for good yardage. Players were unidentified be- cause of the mud. The Denton eleven won their first district game over Irving, November 9, by a score of 19-6. Al- though the Tigers scored early in the first stanza, the Broncos roared back with three touchdowns before the game ended. Charles Harlow, pictured at left, skirts right end for a nice gain. The Broncos came from behind November 16, with a thrilling finish, to tie the Sherman Bearcats 33-33 in the Homecoming game at Bronco Stadium. Trailing by two touchdowns, with only a few minutes left, Denton took over the field and scored twice-the last time with only seconds left on the clock. All-District forward who was high for the night with 24 points, looks on as Lindell Vinson nets 2. The DHS Broncos continued to roll hy defeating the Arlington Colts 62-36 January 4 at Bronco Gym. Thr- whole Bronco squad figured in the second straight dis- trict win of the year with their nifty hall-stealing and control. ln the picture Johnny Hall racks up two points for Denton. After getting off to a slow start, the Broncos hegan to pull away in the final quarter against Sherman as they turned hack the Bearcats 63-48 January 15, for their fourth district win. Nubbin Jolly stretches for the basket while Tracy Collom looks on.
