DENISON Denison came down in a special tram and took the town by storm The team s loyal supporters were met by courtesy cars and were transported to and from the game and about the city Denison had a good hard fighting team and were de termxned to Wm the game but our team had a different way of thmklng and showed them so This game was a thriller in the true sense of the word and had the fans on their feet throughout the game The ball went from one end of the field to the other Den on taking it the length of the field only to lose the ball and have Denison take it to the other end of the field But on one of these lengthy trips Denison scored the first touchdown of the game This touchdown brought out everything we had in the way of scoring plays and in a series of short passes we made an 80 yard run of the field for a 6 point score The extra point was made and the score stood 7 6 The players as well as the spectators were in such a frenzy that not much could be done in the way of covering territory with the ball therefore the game ended with us the victors f wr me in Page Sixty three ' I Y ll I7 ' ' 0 . . . Then came a road trip to Cor- sicana where we split the games. In the first game we i were off form and Corsicana was on: so were easily over ' ' Lf- run 38 to 26: but in the second game. we came back '-' strong and took it by the tune of 40 to 23. This defeat put our standing in the Big Four at six won and two lost. 5 . Y, In the county meet we met Ponder, who put up a 5 5 - game fight, but was not a fair match for our much su- QI i perior team. VVe easily won the two games from them, , ' , f' making us county champions. In the first round of play '-X R 1 e5g'i in the District Meet, we drew a bye putting us up to play Y A psf the winner of the Vveatherford-Paradise game. Weather- -- ford won: so we played them. In this game, the boys had to give everything they had to keep Weatherford's inspired team from defeating us. This contest was the closest game of the meet and we came very near losing it. We won by one point, not a decisive enought margin to justify our having high hopes of winning the district. In our last game of the season we met Dallas Tech, our victim of earlier in the year. This game was the final game of the District eliminations and was to determine which team would go to the State Meet from this Dis- trict. Dallas Tech played their best game of the season in putting us down by the score of 26-28. Our boys fought as if their lives depended on that game, but the Wolves were not to be denied that day. We could not continue to win the District Meet forever' so the determined Tech VVolves were the logical ones to put us out of the winning We in future years may profit by our few mistakes but as a whole The Denton Broncos had a very successful season JIMMIE MCALIQTER MllSCOt Jimmy was a real mascot He gave the boys everything he had to help tnelr spirit and without him the team surely wouldnt have been what it was We should thank him and show hun how his mascotmg is appreciated l 'X' K 5' ' A 2947- 13' -- --' V' gl' l.-Q':- - -If , ff- - f .
