The trip home, in contrast to the beginning of our journey, was smooth sailing all the Way. San Diego never looked so good as DENNIS J. BUCKLEY a heartily expressed thank - you. You're a bunch of real jewels, he said. On 23 June, as we said good-by to the JOUETT for the last time, we knew we were leaving V good friends and dependable comrades-in- arms. Five days then spent in Hong Kong on ' . RSLR were well earned by our weary crew. I No maintenance was allowed in the Crown Colony - a change from our normal routine. Thence to Subic for ammunition on- ' loading and offloading in preparation for naval gunfire support operations in II Corps. area RVN. On 6 July BUCKLEY relieved the USS FLCYD B. PARKS and commenced ten days of port and starboard watches ' necessary for manning all station. Acting in support of United States and Republic of Korea Forces, DENNIS J. BUCKLEY fired 3,000 rounds for the allies. A11 CTGW members performed admirably under the furious pace. From Gunfire support, a day with the TICCNDEROGA QCVA-145 and four days on southwest picket station ended the line period and combat pay for the crew of the USS DENNIS J. BUCKLEY. From 22 July to 24 July it was back to Subic in company with USS CONSTELLATION QCVA-645.
